Words of wisdom from Elena and Maria

While strolling in a park with my family one warm Sunday afternoon, we met these two women, in their late 70โ€™s, approaching us from the opposite direction. They smiled at us and that opened a conversation that I would not forget for the rest of my life. These two have been the best of friends for more than 50 years. I asked them how they are coping with the covid -19 crisis and their answer made me think for the rest of the evening and even into the next morning.

This is what they said, and I felt it was worth sharing-.

โ€œThe current challenge was just another crisis that we have faced all through these years. It was different, yet same in many ways when it comes to crisis. It was not comfortable, it challenges you, it stretches you, it threatens you, it disrupts your normal living and can even take away loved ones from you. But the way out is a personal willingness to fight it, overcome and live for self and others. This approach gives you internal strength to overcome all crisisโ€™s in life. The importance of loving and sharing love with others gives meaning to your daily existence and they signed off saying that the value you place on the ๐ช๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ๐ฌ you develop with others is the secret formula for health and long living. They looked at each other, smiled, and said we are not related in any way. We are neighbors with no separating walls between us and thus we are family and hence we are related.โ€

I hugged them and posed for a picture. They blessed us as a family, and we slowly parted with a great lesson learned. I will hold them close to my heart. I pray that they live long and live full!
